IDEA: Prosthetic Limb Covering
Posted on 12. Jan, 2009 by Charles Tsai in Tech-Inspiration, Technology
Grayson, 16, USA - Using Bubble Wrap and a flesh colored hose to form a cosmetic covering for endo-skeletal prosthetic limbs to help amputees in developing countries better blend in with their society.
I won the grand-prize for a contest sponsored by Sealed Air Corporation for creating this, and have been to Africa twice to implement it with my parent’s prosthetic limb outreach, Standing With Hope.
There are a lot of amputees around the world, and I would like to reach more of them with this invention.
I plan to return to Ghana in the summer, and we are looking to go to China and possibly North Africa.

Excellent work. You should also have a look at one of many things Dean Kamen is doing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0_mLumx-6Y&feature=related
